The Batman film starring Robert Pattinson is now out and has been praised by critics. The return of Pattinson appears to confirm his status as an A-list actor.
It’s extremely difficult to shed the shadow of Edward Cullen of Twilight and Cedric Diggory from Harry Potter. Robert Pattinson managed it. With Matt Reeves’ The Batman release this week, Pattinson seems like someone fans really want to support right in the near future. Even though Pattinson doesn’t seem like the typical charismatic, rich playboy Batman actor, there’s something that is admirable about his portrayal of Bruce Wayne.
Although he has been distanced from his roles in the past for some time, Pattinson’s role as The Caped Crusader puts the perfect cherry on the top. He was chosen for roles like Good Time, Tenet and The Lighthouse after completing the Twilight series. He has been praised for his acting skills in all of these movies and has helped him take on more mature roles.
In Good Time especially, you notice that he’s not always the dark and brooding figure that appears far away or intimidating. He has tried out his limits. No of his roles will claim he’s a typecast actor.
The Batman also includes Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, and Colin Farrell as The Penguin. The version that we have of Gotham is drastically different in tone and feel from the grandiose Christopher Nolan trilogy. It’s more gritty, darker, and less tense in comparison.
After the debacle of Justice League The public is optimistic that studios will take more time to flesh out their films. While Ben Affleck tried his best but it’s possible that the studios were more successful by using Pattinson as an actor. They will each have their own moments of fame, instead of having to divide their time between high-profile characters such as Wonder Woman, Superman, Aquaman and The Flash. With more solo films to their credit, there will be a time to organically congregate for their next ensemble film. We hope Pattinson will join us.
While there’s been little discussed about the plans of an expanded DCEU appearance, it’s already been revealed that there will be an update to The Batman. We’ll have to wait and keep our eyes peeled for the Bat.
