Exorbitant celebrities packed the red carpet to attend 2022’s, Met Gala. The Met Gala began in 1946 as a fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. Diana Vreeland (ex-editor-in-chief, Vogue) was elected the Met Gala’s first host.
Vreeland was appointed director of the Met’s Costume Institute in 1972. He introduced themes and transformed the gala into what it is today. It allows celebrities to don extravagant designer gowns and break away from the traditional slip dress and black and white tuxedo.
In the past, men have had little to show for their style in fashion. “Gilded Glamour”, this year’s main theme is not to be taken lightly. This term was created by Mark Twain 1873. It also applies to late-19th-century clothing. It allows women to play with a wide range of bold colors, as well as explore less-used textures, such as bows and ruffles. There are some men who follow this theme but most prefer to wear safer clothes.
Contrary to popular belief there is another theme. It is more safe and masculine. “White Tie” was the other theme that was overshadowed. GQ Style Guide 2010, the look is a white shirt with black trousers. Layered with a vest, bow tie and a black coat, it’s the most common. It is an official theme, but it has always been a common feeling that men’s style has suffered year after year. We’ll be discussing some Met Gala 2022 male looks that nail the theme (or multiple themes) better than others.
Ryan Reynolds
Reynold is a comedian who is highly sought after in Hollywood. He co-chairs the Gala this year with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Regina King and Blake Lively. Reynolds is wearing a Ralph Lauren suit, Omega watch and a Ralph Lauren watch.
Russell Westbrook
Despite an off-year at his Los Angeles Lakers debut game, Westbrook still looks great in his Thom Browne suit. It includes a matching kilt, top hat, and matching socks. We love the vision of Westbrook, even though many NBA fans wouldn’t have liked it.
Stormzy
The British rapper performs flawlessly at the Met Gala in an all-white Burberry cape and suit. Kid Cudi, another rapper, donned the same look. It was inspired by Nigo from A Bathing Ape. Stormzy’s cape, suit and tie look a little more elegant.
Evan Mock
We all need something out of the ordinary. Evan Mock stars in 2021 Gossip Girl. He wore new Gen Z brand Head of State jewelry, Cartier jewelry, and Christian Louboutin shoes. This silhouette is bolder and more feminine than the others, making it worthy to be included on this list. Pink hair is a nice touch.
Joe Jonas
The eldest Jonas wears a Louis Vuitton outfit, Jimmy Choo boots and Fred Leighton jewelry. Jonas incorporates the 2022 themes in the outfit, despite the fact that there are many looks that look closer to the White Tie motif.
Austin Butler
Elvis, our resident, looks just as stylish in a blacker look. We can’t fault Butler for choosing something a bit safer after spending so many years in Elvis’s jumpsuits during the Baz Luhmann biopic.
